ANGELS

'Angels' Written by Chuck Hall

As sung by Dan Ellis and entire Gathering

A number of people asked me for the lyrics to 'Angels'. So here they are, as we sang them at the Gathering, with chorus adaptations.

I remember quite clearly when you were just five years old
So proud of the teeth you were missing, when you smiled it showed
An now you're a woman, wondering why the world takes all your joy away
Just remember the songs your Mom and Dad used to sing
When I'd come to your house we would say

How many angels dance on the head of a pin?
Can God make a mountain so high he can't move it again?
How long is a moment, where do we come from?
And where do we go in the end?
How many angels dance on the head of a pin?

You say you feel dizzy the way the world's spinning round
Between business and lovers, you can't find the time to slow down.
And life in the city is taking it's toll, you measure despair by the glass,
If you've found the answer to some of your questions,
I've got a question to ask.

How many angels dance on the head of a pin?
Can God make a mountain so high it can't be moved again?
How long is a moment, where do we come from?
And where do we go in the end?
How many angels dance on the head of a pin?

I wish I could explain why there's so much pain in the world
Sometimes even the hardest of stones turns into beautiful pearls.
And the best of your questions aren't meant to be answered
They're there and they give you the grace
To remember the joy that you knew as a child
When the world was your playground place.

How many angels dance on the head of a pin?
Can . . . again?
How long is a moment, where do we come from?
And where do we go in the end?
How many angels dance on the head of a pin?
